Fuyō

Fuyō dresses in a violet long-sleeved gown paired with purple trousers and standard sandals, accented by a pale sash slung across her right shoulder and a yellow choker at her throat. A curtain of long black hair falls over the entire left half of her face, and her forehead protector stays hidden beneath the fringe. Her one visible purple eye sits half-closed, lending her a perpetually drowsy expression.

Sensing is Fuyō's specialty. Her perception is precise enough to read the exact quantity of chakra a target holds, which is why Konan personally assigns her, together with Suiren, to seek out a jinchūriki during the exams. In combat she relies on an umbrella that can spray a downpour of senbon at enemies or open into a guard against close-range strikes. A pragmatist at heart, she will even cooperate with shinobi from other villages if doing so keeps herself and her teammates alive.

Fuyō features in the anime side-story In Naruto's Footsteps: The Friends' Paths. After Nagato seizes control of Amegakure, she and her squad travel to Konohagakure for a Chūnin Exam co-hosted with Sunagakure. Konan orders them to conceal Hanzō's death and to quietly map out which entrants carry unusually large chakra, on the chance that any are jinchūriki. The written round scatters the teams across separate rooms, and Fuyō, placed apart from her partners, coordinates answers through finger signals until Neji Hyūga engineers a way for everyone to pass. When Shikamaru Nara springs a loyalty trap disguised as a sacrifice question, her team leaves it blank and advances.

A race to Sunagakure thins the field to thirty teams, hers among them, and the next stage drops the survivors into the Demon Desert. There her group tangles with Team Guy, and a collapsing floor drags Ajisai and Tenten underground. Rather than abandon her comrade, Fuyō stays behind with Suiren to dig her out, and the two forge an uneasy alliance with Lee and Neji against a rival squad. Guided by chakra signatures, they locate the missing pair and clear the blocked passage, then part on friendly terms. Gaara ultimately cancels the third stage over the chaos, and Konan, satisfied with the report, promotes the three to chūnin. Their next assignment is an S-rank mission that claims Ajisai's life; whether Fuyō survives it is never revealed.
