During Pain's assault he is watching over the list of the mountain's residents when he sees that Kōsuke has vanished from it. Reading the absence as a death, he reports the loss to Fukasaku. Beyond the story, he shows up on the cover of the forty-ninth manga volume and, sporting a yellow bow tie, wins a race in one of the fanbooks.
