Hako Kuroi

Hako's dark blue hair falls over pink eyes that her bangs tend to hide. She favours a black dress worn with a cape, finished with gloves and a ribbon set in her hair.

Blunt and plainspoken, Hako carries a slightly melancholic air and never hesitates to say exactly what she thinks. She is unusually sharp-eyed, catching tiny details at a glance and using them to read people and situations with accuracy. A rabbit plush goes nearly everywhere with her, dressed up with her own forehead protector, and for all her cool detachment she is not above swooning over a boy she finds attractive.

Young as she is, Hako proves so capable at gathering information that she is regularly handed Anbu-level assignments. She controls puppets in an uncommon way, moving her rabbit plush and other tools without occupying her hands, leaving them free for other work. She also practises fuinjutsu, pinning enemies with the String Light Formation and strengthening its hold by combining it with other users, and she later adds medical ninjutsu to her skills. Placed on Team 25 beside Hoki Taketori and Renga Kokubo, she comes under the command of Sai Yamanaka, who drills the squad in Anbu tactics and in techniques for resisting mental intrusion. Across her missions she handles reconnaissance and intelligence work, supports her teammates through the Chunin Exams and beyond, and in time takes her place among Konoha's Anbu. Her surname, Kuroi, fittingly means black clothes.
