Hikari Uchiha

Hikari has dark eyes and spiky black hair tinted faintly blue that falls past her shoulder blades, held back by an orange band. Her outfit pairs a cropped black turtleneck and matching capri leggings with a dark-lined blue coat, a brown silver-buckled belt, fingerless gloves, and black boots. When she masquerades as a game guide she takes on turquoise eyes and blonde hair, trading her coat for a salmon-toned one patterned with darker flowers.

The abuse Hikari endured, caged and addressed as a mere object rather than a person, bred in her a bottomless hatred for the Uchiha, for shinobi everywhere, and for the world itself. That bitterness made her easy prey for Merz, whose promise of revenge she seized upon. Hiding inside the game Ninja Heroes, she played a stiff, mechanical guide who parroted rules and refused to reveal any feeling, until Boruto Uzumaki began treating her as a person worth knowing. His stubborn friendship threw her into turmoil, joy warring against the hate she had carried so long, and though she pressed on with Zero's scheme she found she could not bring herself to kill him. In the end she surrendered her chakra, and her life, to help him. Given a second chance through Boruto's journey into the past, she chose at last to belong to no clan and to live simply under the name her parents had given her.

Born Hikari, a name meant to keep her in the sunshine, she was orphaned when the Warring States conflict claimed her parents. Once the Uchiha grasped how strong she was, they stripped away her name, dubbing her Nanashi to mark her as less than human, and shut her in a cell to be drawn out only for war. Her might was such that she drove back the Senju single-handed, and it took an alliance of the Senju and Sarutobi clans to overpower the Uchiha and seal her beneath the earth. She possessed staggering chakra reserves and a fully matured Sharingan, mastering complex Fire Release from a young age up to the clan's ultimate Great Fire Annihilation. Rarer still, she awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan, wielding Tsukuyomi, Amaterasu, and the black-flame control of Kagutsuchi, along with a unique genjutsu called Yachihoko that let her erase memories, plant commands, and siphon the chakra of those she controlled.

She remained sealed through the Shinobi World Wars until Merz and Teguse of the Zero organisation freed her and turned her hatred to their ends. Appearing first as a guide in the virtual world of Ninja Heroes, she crossed paths with Boruto and, despite herself, came to see what kind of person he was. When Zero's plan demanded it, she used the Engraved Tsukuyomi to brand the whole shinobi world under her mark and Yachihoko to rewrite memories and marshal everyone toward a fifth great war. Boruto eventually cornered her, forcing her to drop her disguise and battle Team 7 inside her genjutsu. After Toneri Otsutsuki and the team shattered Yachihoko, Boruto reached the good still buried in her heart and she gave in, only for Zero to clamp a control device on her and drive her against him at full power until Naruto and Sasuke stepped in. Cast aside by Merz, she channelled all her gathered chakra into Boruto so that he could bring Merz down, then died in his arms. When Boruto later travelled back to the Warring States Period with Toneri's aid, he rescued her from her clan and returned her birth name, Hikari, letting her live out a quiet, cherished life far from war.
