Iō (medical-nin)

Iō ties his forehead protector across his head in the manner of a bandanna, hiding his brown hair beneath it, and his eyes are dark. He turns out in the usual Konoha uniform, flak jacket included, and layers medical overalls on top whenever duty takes him inside the Logistical Support and Medical Division compound.

A level head defines him. Iō keeps a settled, unruffled expression, holding that composure even when the foe across from him is a formidable one.

The fine chakra control expected of a medic lets Iō practice healing arts, but he is no stranger to battle. He wields Earth Release offensively, hurling volleys of stone shards through techniques like Earth Release: Flying Thrown Stones so that each fragment lands a punishing hit. His grasp of sealing tags runs deep, and he can pair them with his earth jutsu to bind reincarnated enemies. Physically he is formidable too, hoisting boulders many times his own size with ease, trading blows against a skilled swordsman using only a kunai for a spell, and enduring wounds without botching a seal.

During the Fourth Shinobi World War, Iō served with the Logistical Support and Medical Division. When three reincarnated shinobi, Hayate Gekkō among them, raided the compound and made off with the KIA scroll, Sukui assembled a recovery squad of Iō, Sakura Haruno, Yokaze, and Yūgao Uzuki. Catching the thieves, Iō helped seal away both the Suna and Kumo ninja, but his clash with Hayate left him badly hurt. Sakura mended him, though not enough to press on, so he handed the last sealing to his teammates, who finished the job and locked all three reincarnated shinobi away.
