Appearance

Shaggy red hair sits atop Kankitsu's pale face, and his beige eyes carry small black pupils. He favors formal dress, a black business suit over a grey collared shirt finished with a light violet tie. Under Sōma's control his gaze goes empty, the pupils vanishing entirely.

Personality

By nature Kankitsu is warm and thoughtful, the sort of person who beams while playing beside Remon. Sōma's possession buries that side under an icy, distant demeanor, lending him an overbearing certainty that he alone knows what is right. Once the demon's hold breaks, his gentler self returns.

History

Kankitsu and Remon are raised together from childhood. When he turns twenty, a curse mark surfaces on his right palm, and to keep it dormant for another century he is promised to her in marriage. During a visit to the Yoimura home to settle a wedding date, Sōma lures him into touching its rock and seizes control of him, after which he grows cold toward his bride. Possessed, he can draw out a white aura that strips memories from anyone he touches, or fire it as a blast to do the same from afar.

While arranging the ritual, he coldly turns away Konohamaru and Boruto when they come to return Remon's handkerchief, then shuts Remon in a room he claims is for her safety and pockets her special hair clip. Sensing the handmaiden Asaki growing suspicious, he wipes her memory, and when she later blocks him from destroying the clip at Sōma's shrine, he moves to finish her off with the demon's power. Boruto steps in; Kankitsu erases both their memories, but the clip in Boruto's hand keeps the boy aware, and he slips away.

At the ritual Kankitsu turns the blade meant to sever a growing horn against the seal itself, only for Sōma to cut him loose once he is no longer useful. Horrified at what he has done, he can only watch as Remon seals the demon inside herself and loses her own memories, after which he resolves to help her recover them.
