Appearance

Kizashi has a warm, approachable face, blue eyes, and a head of muted pink hair shaped like a cherry blossom, a likely wink at his daughter's name. His skin sits a shade darker than that of Sakura and Mebuki. Sideburns run down into an angular moustache above a stubbled chin. His usual outfit is a loose, dark kimono-style shirt lined in green, its sleeves spilling past the garment, cinched with a plain obi and worn over burgundy three-quarter trousers and simple slippers. A silver necklace bearing a pink cherry-blossom charm hangs at his chest, one of its petals a deep plum. In the Road to Ninja continuity his younger self wears standard Konoha gear with a flak jacket but no headband, and his hair reads closer to burgundy.

Personality

Kizashi is an upbeat, easy-to-like man who scatters jokes and wordplay through his conversation, much to the frequent exasperation of Mebuki. Their bickering over trifles runs so lively that it can leave onlookers reeling; Ino Yamanaka once summed the couple up as intense as ever. Beneath the clowning he is warm and protective, showing genuine worry over his daughter's welfare when he found Sakura in a strange state.

History

In the Road to Sakura story, Kizashi and Mebuki come back from a shopping trip to find Ino and a bewildered, tearful Sakura at their door. When Sakura flees, Kizashi discovers a pendant she had dropped and sets out with his wife to return it, puzzled by her behaviour. Showing her his own matching pendant helps stir her memory, and before Ino can explain the amnesia, Sakura throws her arms around both parents in gratitude.

The alternate world of Road to Ninja rewrites his fate entirely. There Kizashi, not Minato Namikaze, takes up the mantle of Fourth Hokage. With the village plunged into a devastating war, he and Mebuki die shielding it, but not before he presses his necklace into his young daughter's hands, leaving that dimension's Sakura an orphan. Though he never featured in the original manga, Kishimoto designed Kizashi himself while helping plan the film, having long wanted to bring such a couple, and their constant banter, into the series.
