Komitsu

Komitsu looks up to his brother with open admiration, especially Ōmitsu's sharper aim, and he chases the same recognition through his own play at being a ninja. Pride runs through him too. After a scare he insists he had everything handled, and he beams at his own small victories. Like his brother, he carries a grudge, blaming the Akatsuki for the family's loss.

His skills amount to a child's game of tossing paper shuriken, at which he starts out clumsy and well behind his brother. A few hours of coaching from Sasuke sharpen him noticeably, until he manages to strike the marks he aims for.

Komitsu and Ōmitsu are the far younger brothers of Kodaka and Kiiro, who took freelance jobs from the hidden villages to keep the family fed after their parents died, leaving the two boys to fend for themselves. Kodaka kept in touch through messages carried by his bees. When Kiiro came back with news that Kodaka had fallen in a fight involving the Akatsuki, the brothers wrongly took it to mean the group had killed him and grew to resent it. The family later settled in the Valley of Lies beside a patch of rare white flowers whose nectar sustained their honey trade, and the boys were told to keep clear of them.

During one game of paper shuriken, a gust scatters the projectiles, and Komitsu, chasing them, nearly tumbles into a ravine before Sasuke Uchiha catches him. Struck by the stranger's skill, the boy mistakes him for Naruto Uzumaki, and Sasuke's stunned silence only cements the guess. He agrees to give them pointers after correcting his name, and Komitsu improves quickly. A red sunset later stirs thoughts of the Akatsuki, prompting Ōmitsu to explain that the word actually means dawn and to admit their family's fate. Kiiro arrives, scolds them once more, and sends them for a jar of medicinal honey to thank Sasuke, who accepts it and leaves as the brothers wave and beg him to return.
