Kusabi

Kusabi binds his brown hair into four bunches hung with dangling decals, and a red cloth pierced with eye-holes wraps his blank white gaze. He carries a long, pole-like weapon topped with a ring.

Aggressive and quick to threaten, Kusabi bellowed at Team Kakashi and boasted that he would plunder the Land of Waves, yet his bravado collapsed into cowardice the moment anyone stood up to him.

His pole-like weapon hints at some training in its handling. Kusabi was among the thugs Gatō assembled to kill Zabuza, Team 7, and Tazuna once battle had worn them all down, sparing Gatō the swordsman's steep fee. After Gatō himself was slain, Kusabi weighed looting the Land of Waves to recover his lost payday, but the swelling ranks of villagers, along with Naruto and Kakashi's shadow clones, sent him and the other mercenaries running.

In the anime he joined a band under Zori and Waraji that abducted Inari and his friends, drinking while a comrade fantasized about riches before the group chased the escaped children. Once Naruto and Sasuke beat Waraji, Kusabi tried to flee with the rest, only to be cornered by Tazuna's villagers, fired on with crossbows, and, after surrendering on his knees, tied up and turned over to the authorities.
