Personality

At first Mecha-Naruto was a savage thing that struck at everything nearby with no allegiance, and once Nagato repaired and reprogrammed it, it fixed single-mindedly on capturing Kurama for Akatsuki, smashing whatever stood in its path. Itachi, however, buried a hidden command inside it: should Naruto declare his resolve to save Sasuke from his rage, the robot would defect to Naruto's side. When that trigger fired, Mecha-Naruto turned into a willing helper who ultimately destroyed itself to protect Konoha. Game portrayals add more colour, casting it as a cunning fighter who resents Naruto for sharing its face and name, dotes on Hinata Hyuga with an open crush, and slowly comes to regard Naruto as a genuine rival and friend.

Abilities

Powerful enough to hurl aside Orochimaru himself, Mecha-Naruto adapted to almost any threat and outmatched even elite Konoha ninja. Its taijutsu overwhelmed specialists like Rock Lee and Neji Hyuga, and its speed once outran Neji's Eight Trigrams Palms Revolving Heaven. As a machine it launched its fists as grappling hooks, fired eye lasers strong enough to gut Orochimaru's lab, unloaded missile volleys from its chest, and reshaped itself into plane and vehicle modes bristling with blades, mallets, and drills. Chakra blades hid in the tips of its hair, and drawing near Naruto let it siphon the Nine-Tails' chakra straight through any seal meant to contain it. With enough of that chakra gathered it assumed a three-tailed form, and by spending all of it at once it could form a Nine-Tails Chakra Bomb, though losing that chakra entirely would kill it much like a jinchuriki.

In the anime, its rampage began when Orochimaru and Kabuto's storm-powered project broke loose and wrecked the lab; recovered by Akatsuki and modified by Pain, it was sent with Itachi to hunt Naruto. It tore through the Konoha 11 and defeated Shino, Shikamaru, Kiba, Choji, Neji, and Kakashi in turn, until Naruto's devotion to Sasuke tripped Itachi's hidden genjutsu and swung the robot to his side. It returned Naruto's chakra, cut down Orochimaru, and then united with Naruto to race home, where it spent the last of its tailed beast chakra to destroy Mecha-Nine-Tails. It later became a playable fighter in Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections, and other titles.
