Appearance

Everything about Nezumi plays on the rodent in his name. Fake whisker-like streaks run across his cheeks, his ears jut outward, and a pinched, angular face sits above a lean, towering frame. His grey eyes are small, and unkempt grey hair sits atop his head. For clothing he favours a swamp-toned kimono cinched at the waist with a blue sash, a grey shirt peeking out beneath it, plain sandals, and wrappings on his legs, with a little pouch riding at the small of his back on his belt. When he goes to work stealing, he throws on a broad hooded raincoat to keep his face in shadow.

Personality

Nezumi is driven by pure avarice, and there is little he will not stoop to when money is involved. He plays the wronged innocent with ease, loudly protesting his arrest and berating the officers who detain him. His cruelty runs deep enough that he thinks nothing of cutting open a kitten to reclaim the gems he stashed inside it.

History

As a thief Nezumi is maddeningly hard to pin down, leaving no trail behind and knowing every gate and back route out of a district. He shakes off pursuers by melting into the ranks of local drunks and scattering his loot as he goes, so nothing ties the crimes to him. His stealth is sharp enough that he shadowed Mitsuki without being spotted and made off with the cat Mikazuki before the boy noticed a thing.

During the New Era, Nezumi robbed a jeweller and slipped away from a joint pursuit by the police and Team 7, who had been brought in specifically to catch him. He tucked himself into a gateway and posed as a drunkard beside three men who were drinking, and Kōtarō Fūma, convinced the culprit was one of them, had all four hauled off to a cell despite their loud objections. With no proof to hold them, the group was let go and mocked the officers on the way out, but Kōtarō stayed suspicious and kept them watched. Gloating over his escape, Nezumi went after Mitsuki, who had taken in a stray kitten that the thief had earlier fed his stolen gems to for safekeeping. The following day he snatched the animal and ducked into a doorway to cut the jewels back out, only for Team 7 to stop him and a police unit to arrive and finally take him in.
