Personality

Sajin is a scornful sort who quietly belittles his fellow examinees and nurses an open grudge against the Hyuga clan, scowling whenever he must share space with them. Selfish and unprincipled, he will go to almost any length to get ahead, even sabotaging rivals and discarding one of his own teammates. That same tunnel-visioned hunger makes him reckless, and his failure to think matters through is exactly what dooms his squad.

History

When Konohagakure and Sunagakure jointly hosted a Chunin Exams, Sajin and his teammates travelled to Konoha for the opening round. Split into separate rooms for the written test, the trio needed their combined scores to total exactly one hundred, and Sajin used his knack for shaping letters out of sand to coordinate with them, a technique he could also pair with chakra-boosted blows in a fight. Rather than help everyone pass, he deliberately spoiled a simple solution Neji had devised, insisting on sinking the other rooms. The second question then asked each team to unanimously give up a member, and Sajin directed his to sacrifice Mijin. He and Mujin were left stunned to learn the whole thing had been a loyalty test: every team that stayed whole advanced, and any missing a member, theirs included, was thrown out.
