Suien

Long, unruly hair sweeps back from Suien's face, held in place by a bandanna, and a goatee lines his jaw beneath a pair of small, dark eyes. He dresses in a deep blue jacket over grey trousers and sandals.

Suien counts among Takigakure's more dangerous shinobi, trusted enough to have trained Shibuki and strong enough to beat him even while the younger man drew on the Hero Water. He can press several opponents at once, and by his own account his chakra pool dwarfs Shibuki's boosted reserves many times over. His control is fine enough to raise a wall of water without forming a single seal. He commands advanced Water Release along with the village's hidden watercutting sword arts, which points to real skill with a blade, and his bare-handed fighting can hold off a group of ninja. In the novel he calls up catfish allies, weaves trap-laden mazes, and throws his voice across distances. Once the Hero Water is in him, his blows carry enough force to launch a person clear across a lake, and his chakra hardens into a shield that turns aside thrown kunai.

Power was always Suien's true appetite, and he proved willing to wound and kill even his own people to feed it, an impatient, sneering man who spared no brutality toward enemies who had once been his pupils. After turning rogue, he gathered followers such as Hisame, Kirisame, and Murasame, plus a crowd of lesser fighters, all aimed at seizing the chakra-boosting Hero Water. He took Taki villagers hostage and swore to execute them one by one unless Shibuki appeared with the water. Shibuki instead drank it and tucked the bottle away, then fought until Suien ran him through with a water blade and spotted the liquid spilling from his shirt. Suien swallowed what remained, but Naruto stalled him long enough for Shibuki to free Sasuke. The two boys then pressed him, and though he had the edge at first, Naruto tapping the Nine-Tailed Fox's chakra turned the tide. Reaching for the last of the water, Suien had the bottle knocked from his grip by Sasuke and shattered, after which a swarm of Naruto's shadow clones drove him over the falls to his death.
