Tagitsuhime is one of the serpentine guardians dwelling in the Ryūchi Cave, home of the White Snake Sage. Wearing the shape of a regal woman, she tests those who seek an audience with the sage, punishing the unworthy with a mind-warping bite.
The woman she seems to be is only a guise, for no human lies beneath it. Her borrowed form carries pale skin and dark hair gathered into a lone bun at the crown that falls away into a ponytail down her back. Layered robes in white and red drape her, with a fuller red dress worn underneath, and she is crowned by a golden tiara and a necklace bearing three crimson tomoe.
Colder and more merciless than her two companions, she strikes at Boruto out of nowhere rather than warn him first. Even so, she matches the others in honoring anyone who clears all three of the cave's trials.
Her signature power comes through her fangs. A bite sinks a victim into a genjutsu where phantom versions of their friends give voice to the doubts and fear buried in the target's heart, an illusion that only firm self-belief can shatter. Beyond this she can float in midair, devour the chakra of others, and take on a serpent's shape. When Boruto cleared Ichikishimahime's test, she swept in from behind and bit his neck, filling his vision with companions who accused him of the damage and errors of his recent days. Once he pushed past the vision, she led him to his unconscious teammates and the White Snake Sage, then saw the group off as they set out to confront Garaga, doubting aloud to the sage that they could survive the encounter. Her name traces back to Tagitsu-hime-no-kami, one of a trio of goddesses honored at the Munakata Shrine.
