Appearance

Perpetually narrowed, his eyes call to mind the fierce painted glare of traditional Japanese art. His coat mixes white with light brown, and long spiky tufts rise from the top of his head. As one of Kakashi's hounds, he sports the pack's usual blue vest, marked with the heno-heno-moheji design, and a Konoha headband fastened at his neck.

Abilities

Urushi's nose is his chief weapon. His heightened senses let him lock onto a scent and follow it with little trouble, and with the Summoning: Earth Release: Tracking Fang Technique he can even chase a mark that has burrowed underground. Once he closes in, he can clamp a foe in place so Kakashi is free to strike without risk. He also works in tight coordination with the other hounds, the pack shifting between attacking and defending formations that lean on their speed and powerful legs.

History

In the anime, once the pack had sealed its contract with Kakashi, Urushi helped hunt for Rin Nohara after Kirigakure ninja seized her, drawing enemy attention so the group could slip away, and later joined the search for a fleeing Orochimaru. During the Land of Waves job, Kakashi summoned the hounds to run down the rogue Zabuza Momochi; Urushi and the others latched onto him and held him fast, clearing the way for Lightning Cutter. He was called up again to trail Naruto's team as it chased after Sasuke and, in the anime, to look into Takumi Village. In Part II the pack tracked the Akatsuki member Sasori from a scrap of his clothing, then hunted Itachi Uchiha, with Urushi and Ūhei assigned to Sai. He also ferried intelligence scrolls between the hidden villages around the time of the Five Kage Summit. Later still, during the Tobishachimaru incident, the hounds located the explosive tags rigged around the airship and handed them off to Might Guy.
