Infiltration: The Set-Up!

On the shoreline, Ino nurses the still-unconscious Anko while Naruto recounts his run-in with Isaribi. Anko drifts into a memory of Orochimaru warning her that the Hokage had uncovered their experiments. Once she wakes, she describes the Kaima as a person reshaped through physical transmutation. Shino, Naruto, and Ino resolve to hold to the mission they were given, protecting the payments and capturing the creature, and set off for Demon Island in the Land of the Sea, the beast's rumoured home. Below the waves, Yoroi and Isaribi slip back to Orochimaru's base, where she delivers intel and pleads to be turned human again. Yoroi calls her a prototype and sends her to eliminate the arriving squad.

The three Genin push into a laboratory lined with test pillars caging strange creatures. Isaribi springs a trapdoor from behind, dropping them through the floor, but Anko catches her with a kunai at the throat. Isaribi wriggles free and seals Anko inside with three hulking lion-like mutants, which Anko dispatches without much trouble. Shino stays behind to duel the enemy agent Yoroi Akadō while Naruto and Ino press on to Anko. The reunited trio then confronts Amachi and Isaribi, who bolt as Misumi Tsurugi arrives, only for Ino to pin him with her mind-manipulation jutsu.

Shino's opponent vanishes as the whole island begins caving in. Isaribi, Amachi, and Yoroi flee by ship, abandoning Anko's team to the collapse, and Naruto scrambles to find a way out. This is the one hundred seventy-first episode of the original Naruto series, part of the Kaima Capture Mission arc, an anime-original storyline.
