Summary

Kiba can't stomach how far Naruto has climbed, the boy once ranked at the bottom of their class now hailed as a hero. His mother Tsume and his teammate Shino both call him out for sulking, so he resolves to get stronger through hard training. With every jonin busy except Kakashi, Kiba asks him for guidance. Rather than coach him directly, Kakashi summons his pack of ninken to test Kiba and Akamaru.

Key Events

The hounds beat Kiba down and he nearly gives up, but Akamaru hauls him to a tree in the village where a mark shows Naruto has since broken the speed record the two of them set as children racing for candy. The reminder fires him back up. He demands a second bout with the ninken, succeeds in seizing the scroll, then sprints to the tree and carves out a new record of his own, swearing he will never surrender again.

Notes

This Shippuden filler belongs to the Paradise Life on a Boat run. Two continuity slips draw attention: Choji and Shikamaru appear with pierced ears during their Academy days even though their clans hold off on piercings until genin rank, and Naruto's jacket shows blood in Kiba's flashback despite being clean in the scene the flashback recalls.
