Summary

Shizune's sealing team is nearly spent trying to bind the Three-Tailed Turtle when Katsuyu, a slug called forth by Tsunade, arrives to lend her strength. Meanwhile Kakashi, Shino, and Yamato square off against Team Guren. Kihō fires a smoke dragon at Yamato through his wrist launcher, but Yamato's Water Bowl technique saturates the smoke with moisture until it slips beyond Kihō's control, and a Great Forest jutsu finishes him. Kigiri sets Kakashi ablaze with an exploding flame shot and traps him in a smoke prison, dismissing his own clones in triumph, only for the ensnared Kakashi to prove a shadow clone as the real one runs him through from behind with the Lightning Cutter. Acting on Hinata's counsel, Shino locates Nurari's weak point and appears to finish him.

Key Events

With Team Guren beaten, Lee, Tenten, Sai, and Kiba reinforce the trio, and together they resolve to guard the sealing team, reach Naruto, and rescue Yūkimaru, unaware that Nurari's remains are seeping into and claiming the bodies of Kihō and Kigiri. Elsewhere, Naruto and Guren press toward Yūkimaru, and Guren wavers, wondering whether the boy could ever pardon her. Naruto tells her that even if the child comes to loathe her, she must stand by him and shield him, and she agrees.

Notes

Atop the cliff, Yūkimaru's chakra gives out and he loses his grip on the Three-Tails. Rinji moves to inject him with Orochimaru's cursed seal to restore his power, but Guren and Naruto arrive in time to stop it. Cornered, Rinji tells Yūkimaru that Guren murdered his mother and destroyed his home, urging him to avenge himself by loosing the Three-Tails on her and on Konoha. Instead, Yūkimaru tells Guren that he forgives her and loves her, and she answers that she loves him too and will always remain beside him. Naruto then drives a punch into Rinji's face, which tears open, and the figure strips off the disguise to reveal Kabuto, who warns Naruto he will kill him if he keeps interfering.
