Summary

Sasuke crosses blades with a hooded attacker wielding a kusarigama, then runs a Chidori along his sword and into the enemy's chain weapon to bring them down. The attacker turns out to be a small, pale boy with the Sharingan and the Uchiha crest, who flees. Meanwhile Sarada hurries to the Hokage's office hoping to ask where her father is. A hawk delivers Sasuke's warning about the boy to Naruto, who consults Kakashi; Kakashi suspects a tie to Orochimaru. The boy reports to a hooded man who questions him about Sasuke, intent on killing Sasuke for having slain Itachi.

Arriving at the office, Sarada overhears that Naruto is departing to meet Sasuke himself, so she races home, finds Sakura still resting after fainting, changes clothes, and heads out again. Chocho joins her at the gates. Naruto asks Shikamaru to pass an apology to Boruto and leaves just before Boruto turns up with a lunch from Hinata; Sarada offers to carry it to Naruto and slips away with Chocho, unaware they are being watched by a Sharingan-bearing creature. The boy, Shin, is ordered to seize Sarada and attacks the two girls, but Naruto steps in before Chocho can be killed. When Shin reveals a Mangekyo Sharingan, Naruto shifts into Six Paths Sage Mode, blocking Shin's remotely guided weapons with chakra arms until the Sharingan creature calls Shin back. Judging the return trip too risky, Naruto keeps the girls with him, and Sarada finally hands over the lunch. As they travel, Naruto tells Sarada about Sasuke and likens her to both her parents. Nearing the Ridge Tower rendezvous, Sarada slips ahead on her own, and the thought of meeting her father at last awakens her Sharingan. She reaches Sasuke, who draws his sword and asks whether she is one of Shin's.

Notes

The episode belongs to the Sarada Uchiha arc and adapts chapters 702, 703, and 704. It aired in Japan on August 16, 2017, and in English on March 2, 2019. Its opening theme is Baton Road and its ending theme is Sayonara Moon Town. Several small changes distinguish it from the manga: the moment Naruto notices Sarada and Chocho tailing him is cut, the girls acknowledge knowing about the Nine-Tails when the manga leaves it unspoken, and an animation error shows Shin's chained shuriken intact after he had already taken it apart.
