The Fallen Castle

Team Asuma manages to take the lord Shu into custody and settles into an inn room for the night. Naruto, meanwhile, struggles to keep up the disguise, standing in for Shu and fumbling through the daily obligations the role demands. The real Shu, freed of his duties for once, savors ordinary pleasures he had never been able to enjoy. As Deidara and Sasori squabble on their approach, the impostor scheme unravels when Tatewaki and Princess Chiyo notice that Naruto's fighting ability does not match the lord they know, forcing him to confess the whole plan after a failed escape.

The Land of This soon comes under assault from Sasori's army of a hundred puppets and Deidara's explosive clay. Tatewaki confronts Sasori and rebukes him, declaring that his loyalty endures even though the country's daimyo is already dead. Sasori strikes him down with a poisoned prosthetic-arm senbon technique, and Tatewaki loses his life. As the Akatsuki pair withdraws, Yamato observes from afar that the operation went well overall.

The episode belongs to the Fourth Shinobi World War: Confrontation arc and first aired in Japan on April 25, 2013. Framed within the war, the reincarnated Tatewaki learns that Chiyo and Shu are safe under the guard of the Daimyo Protection Squad. Comforted at last, he stops resisting, and though he wishes he could see them one more time, his soul is freed to the afterlife as his body crumbles away.
