The Sad Sun Shower

Yota is an anime-original character introduced as a childhood friend of Naruto's who could control the weather. In The Sad Sun Shower he appears as multiple reanimated fighters during the Fourth Shinobi World War, forcing Naruto, Ino, Sakura, Kiba, and Akamaru to face several versions of him at once.

Piecing together scattered childhood memories, Naruto and his friends learn that Konoha's Anbu once seized Yota and took him away for interrogation, an event that led to his death. Naruto is hit hardest, realizing that he and the other children bore responsibility for what happened to Yota.

Facing multiple reincarnated versions of Yota across different battlefields, the young shinobi search for a way to seal him the same way they have sealed other reanimated fighters in the war. Ino connects the group telepathically through her father to compare notes on the separate Yota fights each team is enduring.

Yota can manipulate the weather, and in The Sad Sun Shower one version of him stirs up gusts of wind with every whistle while fighting Naruto. This weather-control ability is the same trait his childhood friends remember from playing with him years earlier.

The Sad Sun Shower falls within the Fourth Shinobi World War: Confrontation arc of Naruto: Shippuden. The episode revisits Yota, an anime-original friend from Naruto's youth, and leans on nostalgia and regret rather than combat.
