Summary

Sasuke and Naruto steel themselves to hit back at Haku as Sakura shouts encouragement, but Kakashi cuts her off, warning that the instinct to win means little without the instinct to kill, the trait that matters most. He explains he cannot move to help, or Tazuna will die. When Kakashi bares his Sharingan against Zabuza again, the swordsman counters that repeating the same trick lets an enemy learn to beat it, and boasts that Haku has been honed into a one-of-a-kind killing machine whose jutsu outstrips his own.

Key Events

Boxed inside the Demonic Mirroring Ice Crystals, Sasuke and Naruto are outpaced by Haku's speed. After watching his shadow clones fall again and again, Sasuke starts to read Haku's movements and lands a Great Fireball while Haku is busy with the clones, singeing his outfit and rattling him enough to slow him down. Zabuza, meanwhile, tells Kakashi their earlier duel was pure luck, revealing that Haku had studied everything from a tree and formed a deadly plan. Cloaking himself with the Hiding in Mist Technique to blind the Sharingan, Zabuza promises the next glimpse Kakashi gets of him will be his last sight of anything.
