Summary

Naruto lies on the brink of death, and no amount of medical ninjutsu from Sakura seems to reach him. Sasuke fares just as poorly, leaving Tobirama in torment over his helplessness once the boy's chakra slips beyond his ability to sense. As the last traces of Kurama fade from the air around her, Sakura cannot understand why her healing fails, until Gaara reveals that the fox has already been torn out of Naruto. His single remaining chance, Yang-Kurama warned, lies with Minato and the sealed Yin half.

Gaara locks Sakura to his back with his sand and pushes their pace, freeing her to change approach. She cuts open Naruto's chest, works his heart by hand, and drives resuscitation with fierce resolve, refusing to let him slip away on her watch.

Key Events

Elsewhere Karin summons the Uzumaki golden chains and tears through parts of Tobi's massive statue. Wooden stakes pierce her, but a bite to her own body mends the wounds. Suigetsu's water blast to the Zetsu clone's head exposes a figure hidden within, buying Orochimaru the moment to brand it with a cursed seal while Jūgo pulls Karin clear. She notes with dread that Sasuke's chakra has gone silent to her senses as the group rushes toward him. Meanwhile Madara calmly draws the Ten-Tails into himself, takes on his jinchūriki form, and leaves to reclaim his left Rinnegan. As Sasuke's outlook darkens, a barefoot stranger approaches him.

Notes

A single panel mistakenly shows Sakura wearing a Konohagakure forehead protector rather than the Allied Shinobi Forces band, an error fixed in the collected tankōbon printing. The chapter ran in volume 69 within the Birth of the Ten-Tails' Jinchūriki arc, and its title also names the series ending theme of the same name.
