This chapter splits between Kabuto's unsettling account of housing Orochimaru's remains and the opening exchanges of Sasuke's duel with the explosive Akatsuki artist Deidara.
Kabuto explains that the fragments of Orochimaru left inside him are forever fighting to seize control, a contest that only leaves him more powerful. He slips away before Naruto's group can seize him, declaring he will happily face Naruto once he has settled the debt to Orochimaru by killing Sasuke.
At the same time, Sasuke launches his attack on Deidara and Tobi. His strike connects with Tobi but passes through without harm. Deidara answers with a barrage of clay bombs, which Sasuke turns aside using his Chidori Senbon. Undeterred, Deidara resolves to bring out his C2 creation.
Kabuto describes his ongoing internal struggle with Orochimaru's remains and escapes capture, vowing to kill Sasuke first. Sasuke's blow against Tobi has no effect, while his Chidori Senbon deflect Deidara's clay explosives. Deidara opts to escalate by deploying his C2.

Naruto built the transformation jutsu himself, and the Hidden Leaf has been quietly not talking about it ever since. The story behind our 90s R&B record about the Naruko question everybody dodges....
Set during the Itachi Pursuit Mission arc and collected in the thirty-ninth volume, the chapter both hints at Kabuto's slow merger with Orochimaru and opens the aerial contest between Sasuke and Deidara. Tobi's immunity to the first attack quietly foreshadows the mystery surrounding his abilities.

After his clay bombs are deflected by Sasuke's Chidori Senbon, Deidara decides to bring out his powerful C2 creation to continue the battle.
