Iruka's Persuasion

Naruto grows wary when he notices additional Leaf shinobi stationed on the island, and Iruka along with the others attempt to keep him confined to the temple through deception. Refusing to be penned in, Naruto slips into Sage Mode and breaks his way outside. His heightened senses immediately pick up the clashes raging across the distant battlefields, prompting Iruka to finally tell him the truth about the war.

Recalling what Nagato once told him about conflict, Naruto resolves to shoulder the fighting and bring it to an end on his own. Iruka pleads with him to stay behind and pours out how much the young man means to him, even raising a barrier to block his path. Channelling the Nine-Tails' chakra, Naruto tears straight through the seal. Tucked inside his headband he discovers Iruka's note begging him to return alive, and he presses on toward the front.

Naruto sees through the ruse meant to keep him on the island and activates Sage Mode to escape the temple. Iruka reveals that a war is underway. Remembering Nagato's teachings, Naruto commits to ending the conflict himself. He shatters Iruka's containment barrier using the Nine-Tails' power and finds a heartfelt message hidden in his forehead protector before continuing on.

The 535th chapter belongs to Volume 57 within the Fourth Shinobi World War: Confrontation arc and was published in Japan on May 2, 2011. Viz released it under the title Iruka's Impact.
