Killer B and Motoi

For generations the Eight-Tails had been a burden on the Cloud Village, whose repeated bids to harness its power ended in disaster whenever an earlier host lost control and left heavy casualties behind. Grief turned to resentment among the bereaved, who came to loathe both the beast and whoever carried it, and Motoi was no different in his hatred of Killer B. Though the two were friends, Motoi once made an attempt on B's life that he could not bring himself to complete.

The shame of that failed act only deepened over the years as B rose to become a celebrated village hero. Motoi long dreaded that his old friend knew of the attempt and secretly despised him for it. Not long after he shares the whole story with Naruto, B saves his life, and it turns out he never knew about the plot and would not have cared even if he had. Watching the two men mend their bond leaves Naruto genuinely happy.

The chapter is named for the pair whose friendship it examines and belongs to the run leading into the great war. It gives context to Kumogakure's troubled history with its jinchuriki.
