Asuma's old students steel themselves to raise weapons against their reincarnated teacher, while a samurai commander steps into a separate clash with revived legends. The chapter pairs a painful family reunion against Mifune's cold precision.
Ino, Shikamaru, and Chōji brace themselves for the wrenching task of fighting their resurrected mentor, Asuma. On another front, Mifune leads a contingent of samurai to reinforce the Surprise Attack Division, wading into combat against the reanimated Hanzō, Chiyo, and Kimimaro. Mifune neutralizes Hanzō's ninjutsu by striking in the gaps between his hand seals, denying him the chance to complete his techniques. As their duel wears on, the swordsman recalls their very first encounter years earlier. He then catches Hanzō off guard, slipping past several strikes and landing damage of his own despite his opponent's fearsome reputation.
Team Asuma is forced into a confrontation with their fallen sensei. Mifune and his samurai join the Surprise Attack Division's battle. Mifune disrupts Hanzō's jutsu by attacking between seal formations and reflects on their history together. He surprises Hanzō with his evasive skill and manages to wound him.
