Chapter 78 of Boruto follows the village scrambling to stop Kawaki after he banishes Naruto and Hinata. A running battle across the Hokage Rock costs Boruto an eye and ends with Momoshiki tipping the fight in Kawaki's favor.
Word reaches Shikamaru that the chakra of Naruto and Hinata has gone dark, and he suspects Code, though an investigator notes a brief flicker of Kawaki's signature. Himawari comes home to find the place under examination. Shikamaru has Ada confirm the culprit, and she names Kawaki, adding that his shrunken state makes him impossible to trace. She also warns that he may be aiming to kill Boruto once more. Sarada is stunned to hear Kawaki had already killed Boruto before, having blamed Code. Shikamaru explains it was Boruto's own request, meant to shield everyone from Momoshiki. Ignoring orders, Sarada leaves to help. On the Hokage Rock, Kawaki tries to send Boruto away too, but Boruto halts it with his Kāma.
Restored to full size, Boruto explains he used Daikokuten to seal Naruto and Hinata inside a dimension where time is frozen, sparing them death or starvation. Kawaki presses the attack with his cubes and reshaped arm. When Sarada joins in, Kawaki absorbs her Fire Release and slashes at her; Boruto throws himself in the way and loses the use of his right eye. Mitsuki pins Kawaki's arm while Shikamaru's shadow locks him in place, blocking his ability to shrink, and Sasuke sets a blade to his throat. Their standoff breaks nothing loose until Momoshiki manifests through Boruto, drains Shikamaru's jutsu, and frees Kawaki to slip away. Momoshiki urges him not to be captured if he still means to destroy him. As Boruto recovers, Momoshiki reminds him that one of his blue eyes is already gone and that the ending is now underway and cannot be halted.
Ada confirms Kawaki banished Naruto and Hinata into a time-frozen dimension via Daikokuten. Boruto shields Sarada and loses his right eye. A combined effort by Mitsuki, Shikamaru, and Sasuke corners Kawaki, but Momoshiki intervenes through Boruto to let him escape and declares the ending has begun.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

Naruto built the transformation jutsu himself, and the Hidden Leaf has been quietly not talking about it ever since. The story behind our 90s R&B record about the Naruko question everybody dodges....
