The Fourth's Battle to the Death!!

As Tobi advances on the village, Kakashi, the Third Hokage, and Itachi all sense the Nine-Tails stirring, and Tobi looses the fox into the streets. The Third marshals Konoha's defense while puzzling over how Kushina's seal could have failed despite every safeguard. Minato appears atop Hokage Rock, and the fox senses him and hurls a Tailed Beast Ball his way. He redirects the blast beyond the village with a space-time technique, announcing his arrival. Tobi ambushes him and tries to warp him away, but Minato flickers clear using the Flying Thunder God Technique. Sensing power and knowledge too uncanny to explain, Minato wonders aloud whether Tobi is Madara Uchiha, then dismisses the idea since Madara is dead. With his enemy able to command the fox and wield a jutsu beyond his own, Minato judges him far too dangerous to spare. The clash becomes a contest of speed, as Minato throws a marked kunai that phases through Tobi, forms a Rasengan, and when Tobi seizes his shirt certain of victory, vanishes and reappears above him to drive the sphere home.

Tobi unleashes the Nine-Tails on Konoha as the Third organizes the defense. Minato deflects the fox's Tailed Beast Ball away from the village. Tobi's attempt to warp Minato away fails against the Flying Thunder God Technique. Minato deduces Tobi is too dangerous to leave alive and lands a Rasengan by teleporting behind him.

The chapter belongs to Volume 53 in the Fourth Shinobi World War: Countdown arc and was released in Japan in 2010. Viz titles it The Fourth Lord's Death Match!! The flashback establishes Tobi's mastery of both Kamui and the Nine-Tails years before the main conflict.
