Tobi tells the assembled shinobi to watch the Ten-Tails return and the world's ruin begin. Baffled that this is possible, Kakashi reasons that the war was fought to keep Akatsuki from claiming Gyūki and Kurama, and since their side still holds the beasts, he wonders if Tobi is bluffing. Recalling the clone made from Gyūki's chakra during the fight with Taka, Gyūki warns that Akatsuki may hold some of its chakra after all. Kurama adds that its own chakra sat inside the Benihisago and Kohaku no Jōhei, both devoured by the Demonic Statue, and asks Naruto to switch so it can explain. The fox recounts the tale of the Treasured Tools, the Gold and Silver Brothers, and how they gained its chakra, with Kakashi confirming the account against HQ intel. Kurama describes the Ten-Tails as the progenitor of everything in the world and warns that even it alone cannot best the beast, though a chance remains since Tobi lacks the full chakra of Gyūki and Kurama.

Tobi prepares to revive the Ten-Tails, claiming it heralds the world's end. Gyūki and Kurama reveal Akatsuki holds fragments of their chakra from the clone and the sealed Treasured Tools. Kurama recounts the story of the Gold and Silver Brothers, corroborated by Kakashi. Tobi states he needs the beast only to cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi. Naruto declares his dream and, in Nine-Tails Chakra Mode, drives a Rasengan at the statue, but Tobi blocks it with his gunbai.
