Summary

Gaara races toward the dying Naruto while Tobirama rages at Madara for running Sasuke through. Nearby, a shrunken copy of Hashirama's colossal wood-hand technique comes crashing down, only for the Third Hokage, one of the few fighters with chakra to spare, to turn it aside. The attacker proves to be the Zetsu wearing Tobi's shape, still oddly fixated on the workings of the human gut.

Key Events

Orochimaru's group hunkers down to plot an ambush, though a Sasuke-stricken Karin can barely relay what her senses tell her. Naruto is carried to Tsunade, but among her, Shizune, and Sakura, only Sakura still holds the chakra to attempt healing. Hinata spots his fading pulse and rushes over, then collapses from her own depletion. Tobi and a white Zetsu observe that even Uzumaki vitality cannot save Naruto now that Kurama has been torn from him.

Notes

Far off, Sasuke clings to life by holding to his vow to honour Itachi's sacrifice and remake the ninja world, yet slips as Madara walks away from him. Both Sakura and Karin grasp that unless something changes, the two young men are doomed. A continuity slip shows Sakura drawn without her chakra cloak mid-scene despite wearing it moments before. Released as A True Ending by Viz, this is chapter 662 in volume 69.
