Things that Have Value!!

The Fourth Kazekage cannot make sense of how his son survived losing the One-Tailed Shukaku, and Gaara's explanation only leaves him more astonished, especially the news that Gaara has gained real friends. His disbelief grows further when he learns that Gaara harbors no hatred toward him, partly because holding the office of Kazekage himself has given Gaara insight into his father's old choices. Looking back on his son's birth and his slow decline as a failing jinchūriki, the Kazekage decides his reincarnation at least offers a chance to measure his child's true worth.

Doubting that Gaara could ever surpass him, the father launches into battle, and his gold dust collides with Gaara's sand until the two blur together. When Gaara moves to shield two of the other Kage from a rain of gold from above, his sand instead wraps all three in an unbreakable hold. Watching his own attacks fail against the Shield of Sand, the Kazekage finally understands that a parent's real duty is simply to trust their children, overturning everything he once believed about value. He tells Gaara that his power flows not from the Shukaku but from his mother, and that Karura genuinely loved him, a revelation that leaves Gaara stunned.

The chapter stages the duel between Gaara and his reanimated father, pitting gold dust against sand. Gaara's forgiveness and his effortless defense of the other Kage force the Fourth Kazekage to reconsider his cold notions of worth, culminating in his admission that Gaara's strength comes from Karura's love rather than the tailed beast.

Part of the Fourth Shinobi World War: Confrontation arc, this installment resolves much of Gaara's lingering pain over his upbringing. The Viz release is titled Valued Treasures!!, and the reveal that his mother truly cherished him reframes the childhood he once believed was defined by rejection.
