Kiro Kiro no Mi

Character

Mikita, known as Miss Valentine, ate this Paramecia power. She can set her body's mass anywhere from one to ten thousand kilograms while her size holds steady, ideal for drifting aloft and dropping down like a wrecking weight.

Overview

Drawing its name from kiro, the shortened Japanese form of kilogram, this Paramecia power grants Mikita total say over how much she weighs. She can sink to a mere kilogram, buoyant enough to sail on a breeze under a parasol, or climb to ten thousand kilograms and crash down hard enough to fracture the ground and mash anything beneath her. At maximum heft she can badly hurt beasts as huge as dinosaurs. What never shifts through any of this is how big she looks.

Mechanics

Even as her mass leaps around, she carries on moving as though untouched, and her landings scarcely mark her, inflicting only minor harm on each descent. Turned featherlight, she escapes an incoming strike merely by floating out of range. The snag is that the fruit governs weight and weight alone, leaving her density and toughness unchanged, so a foe can still bat her aside in mid-drop, which is how Nami and Vivi flung her away at full tonnage before she could crush Usopp. A quick enough enemy can likewise dodge a plunge from on high and let her thud into the earth. Oda placed the fruit beneath the Ton Ton no Mi, which climbs to far heavier figures, and the usual Devil Fruit weaknesses are in play.

Notable Users

A Baroque Works agent going by Miss Valentine, Mikita fights by turning light to spring high on her umbrella, then swelling her mass to dive-bomb her marks. Her partner Gem, whose blasts create explosions, often flings her upward to set up these smashing drops, though the ploy is hampered because she cannot bend a fall's course. She also tortures pinned enemies, settling on top of them and piling on weight little by little. Her named moves include the 10,000 Kilo Press, the head-aimed 10,000 Kilo Guillotine, and the gradually crushing Crescendo Stone.
