Alvida

In her earliest appearances Alvida was a towering, heavyset woman whose long wavy black hair and freckled cheeks sat beneath a white cowgirl hat topped by a big plume. Her getup combined a neckerchief, a checked shirt, and a captain's coat worn with the arms through the sleeves, accented by rings, red-painted nails, a purple sash holding a flintlock and some jewels, grayish trousers, and buckled shoes.

Consuming the Sube Sube no Mi stripped the weight from her body and remade her into a slim, striking figure with dark-green eyes, though she held on to both her hair and her hat. Afterward she favored a bikini top, a pearl necklace, and snug Capri trousers, sometimes draping a purple coat over the shoulders and choosing footwear that slips off easily for her skating technique. Following the timeskip she traded the cowgirl hat for a top hat in red and white. Like Boa Hancock, her new looks make most onlookers, women included, fall for her on sight.

Alvida is convinced she is the loveliest woman on the seas, a belief she held even in her bulkier, neglected days and enforced by clubbing anyone who dared disagree. She loathes noise, filth, and laziness, drove her crew to scrub every inch of her ship, and refuses to gamble her life against hopeless odds, yet she can turn outright cruel when pushed. Once she gained her new beauty, the flattery she had previously extracted by force became sincere, and her manner softened, her voice gentler and her mace a little less busy, though her dazzled men hardly noticed when it landed.

Born in the East Blue, Alvida raised her own crew and spent years terrorizing the region aboard the Miss Love Duck, pressing a stranded boy named Koby into service as her abused cabin boy. Her reign ended when Luffy, plucked from a whirlpool by her own men, mocked her vanity and shrugged off her hardest swing with his rubber body before knocking her out, inspiring Koby to chase his dream of joining the Marines.

Obsessed with finding Luffy again, Alvida searched on her own, swallowed the Sube Sube no Mi, and emerged slender and beautiful. She plucked the shrunken Buggy from a giant crab, learned that he shared her grudge, and formed an alliance with him. The pair pursued Luffy to Loguetown, where she professed her love to his bewilderment before Smoker briefly netted them both; they slipped free and pressed on toward the Grand Line.

When Buggy was hauled off to Impel Down and the Marineford war, Alvida assumed command of his crew and led them away rather than mount a doomed rescue. The two reunited afterward, and once Buggy became a Warlord she took a high post in his dispatch company. After Crocodile and Mihawk strong-armed Buggy into heading the Cross Guild, Alvida and the rest of the administration casually agreed to serve under Crocodile.
