Appearance

Standing well over five meters tall, Pizarro cuts a regal figure rather than a prisoner's one, never wearing the striped uniform that marked his fellow Impel Down escapees apart from Shiryu. A patterned fur coat in white and dark brown drapes his frame, with light-purple necklaces hanging at his chest. Feline traits dominate his face: slit pupils, a wild cyan mane, and a drooping pale-blue mustache that fans out toward his shoulders like whiskers. White horns sit atop his head, fixed by black metal plates, and he has no eyebrows at all. Several of his upper teeth have gone missing. His arms stay mostly hidden, though spiral-etched black vambraces have been glimpsed, rendered as dark metallic gloves in the anime. Following the timeskip, his beard tapers into three points and an ornate crown bearing the crew's Jolly Roger rests on his head.

Personality

A near-constant grin marks his face, present even as he strikes at Whitebeard, and he tends to close his sentences with a catlike Nya. Pizarro carries an old fondness for things gone by and an open hunger for command, once jokingly pressing Teach to hand him the captaincy. He resents how his captain monopolizes the headlines and has daydreamed about earning his own fame by crushing Garp's raid on Hachinosu. Casual to a fault, he met Moria's zombie rampage on the island with little more than mild irritation at the noise. Even so, he fears provoking Teach, refusing to send himself, Vasco Shot, or Sanjuan Wolf after escaped prisoners for fear of the destruction it might cause. His reign as king was defined by greed and self-interest, abusing royal privilege until his subjects threw him out.

History

Once the ruler of a kingdom in the North Blue, Pizarro bent his royal power toward selfish ends until his people rose up and removed him. He grew into one of the world's most dreaded criminals before the World Government captured him and buried him in Impel Down's deepest sixth level, erased from official record. When Blackbeard stormed the prison, Pizarro fought his cellmates to the death on Teach's orders, survived, and joined the crew. At Marineford he attacked the dying Whitebeard alongside his new comrades, then watched Blackbeard claim a second Devil Fruit power before Sengoku scattered them in his Buddha form. His power springs from a Paramecia fruit, the Shima Shima no Mi, which lets him merge his body with an island and govern both its terrain and any structures on it; while fused he senses every movement across the land, making him a living watch over Hachinosu. After the timeskip he was elevated to the Ten Titanic Captains, taking charge of the fleet's fourth ship. During the Egghead conflict he tried to crush Garp's escaping vessel with enormous stone hands raised from the island, only for Garp and Koby to wound and humiliate him. Teach later berated him for letting Koby and Moria slip away, though the capture of Garp cooled his captain's temper.
