Known as Bartolomeo the Cannibal, this former East Blue mob boss became a fanatical devotee of Monkey D. Luffy after witnessing his Loguetown survival. A Super Rookie who wields the barrier-creating Bari Bari no Mi, he captains the Barto Club and leads the second ship within the Straw Hat Grand Fleet.
Tall, lean, and well-muscled, Bartolomeo sports a wild green mohawk and lacks eyebrows entirely. His face has a fiendish cast with sharp fangs and a ring through his nasal septum, and two tattooed lines curl from beneath his right eye toward his ear. A dark emblem of a fanged, winged ring sits on his chest, and he favors a deep purple coat whose back bears a flaming head over crossed sabers. Baggy checkered trousers, ruffled boots, and a ringed belt round him out. Two years earlier his hair was tamer, slicked into a pompadour, and he wore a yellow-and-red striped coat trimmed with fur.
Crude and unbothered, Bartolomeo taunts crowds and opponents alike and was once voted the pirate the public most wished would vanish. He genuinely does not care what anyone thinks of him, and his violent streak, having once gunned down innocents, made him infamous, though he keeps a sense of honor and will defend those he calls friends. Everything changes around the Straw Hats: ever since Luffy's miraculous survival at Loguetown, he has idolized the crew to the point of worship, weeping and fainting in their presence and attacking anyone who dares insult his hero. He ends his sentences with the rustic '-dabe' and laughs with a distinctive 'Hehehahahaha.'
Bartolomeo ran a mafia controlling 150 towns until Luffy's defiance at Loguetown, capped by a lightning bolt that spared his life, inspired him to abandon crime for piracy. He built the Barto Club from fellow Straw Hat admirers and modeled their vessel on the Going Merry. Entering the Corrida Colosseum tournament on Dressrosa purely to obtain the Mera Mera no Mi as a gift for Luffy, he revealed the Bari Bari no Mi to survive Elizabello's King Punch and claim the B Block. He spared Bellamy from Dellinger, sided against Doflamingo during the Birdcage crisis, and took heavy wounds defending Nico Robin while ultimately defeating Gladius. Afterward he and six other captains pledged themselves to Luffy, and their alliance took shape as the Straw Hat Grand Fleet, after which he ferried the crew toward Zou before parting ways. Later, unaware of Shanks' bond with Luffy, he torched the Red Hair Pirates' banner, an act that drew the Emperor's crew to him; offered fake poison as a loyalty test, he drank it himself rather than risk Luffy, only for Yasopp to then sink his ship and leave the Barto Club's fate uncertain. His Bari Bari no Mi lets him raise nearly indestructible barriers, shape them into stairs or rams, and sheathe his fist to amplify a punch, though he can sustain only one barrier at a time.

When I first decided to commit to watching One Piece seriously, I knew I was embarking on one of anime's longest and most beloved series. With over 100...

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....
