Bartolomeo, a Luffy-obsessed rookie with the Bari Bari no Mi, heads the Barto Club, a former East Blue street gang that idolizes the Straw Hats. Within the Grand Fleet they hold the number-two slot, fearsome in a brawl yet hopeless whenever they have to actually navigate.
What began as a knot of East Blue toughs eventually swelled into a full crew under Bartolomeo, who also lends his name to the alternate title Bartolomeo Pirates. Their captain took up the pirate life after witnessing Luffy fight during the clash at Marineford, and every one of the fifty-six members shares that fervent devotion to Monkey D. Luffy and his companions. Loud, destructive, and proud of it, they describe their own habit of wrecking any place they visit as bringing the ruckus.
Among the Grand Fleet allied to the Straw Hats, this crew occupies the second position. Their vessel, the Going Luffy-senpai, is carved to resemble a pre-timeskip Luffy with arms flung backward, dressed up with antler-like ornaments and a stern modeled after Chopper, plus a sheep figure recalling the Going Merry. For all that flair, the ship is crewed by dreadful sailors who suffer badly from seasickness.
Sailing out of the East Blue, which most regard as the feeblest of the four seas, and still managing to reach the New World, the crew is no pushover. Bartolomeo carries a hefty bounty and the reputation of a Super Rookie, and he proved capable of downing Gladius, one of the officers serving Doflamingo's Donquixote crew. At the Corrida Colosseum, both he and his subordinate Gambia entered to claim the Mera Mera no Mi, intending to hand it to Luffy. Bartolomeo took his block by using the Bari Bari no Mi to guard against and then defeat King Elizabello II, afterward assisting Sabo and Rebecca and fighting Gladius with help from Cavendish.
Once Doflamingo fell, Bartolomeo secured a place for his crew within the fleet loyal to Luffy and personally carried the Straw Hats and Law toward Zou aboard the Going Luffy-senpai, their sailing ineptitude on constant display. Far later, after they torched Shanks' banner on Gartel Island, the Red Hair Pirates came to answer the insult; Bartolomeo swallowed poison meant for Luffy to prove his devotion, yet Yasopp destroyed their ship regardless, leaving the crew's fate a mystery.
The crew's muscle and its most fanatical Luffy devotee is captain Bartolomeo, who wields the barrier-generating Bari Bari no Mi and sports spiky green hair. Gambia stands as the only other named crewmate; he built up a modest bounty and became a marked target during the colosseum event, but he was flattened by Vice Admiral Maynard before his own match could begin.
Their flag shows a crimson skull topped by jagged green hair patterned on Bartolomeo's own, with crossed spikes below, wearing the exact same expression as the Usopp Pirates' emblem. The anime frames several members as boyhood friends who came up alongside Bartolomeo in the countryside, underlining how a rowdy gang hardened into a pirate crew.

When I first decided to commit to watching One Piece seriously, I knew I was embarking on one of anime's longest and most beloved series. With over 100...

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....

Bartolomeo does not officially join the Straw Hat Pirates crew itself; instead his crew, the Barto Club, pledges loyalty to Luffy as the second ship in the Straw Hat Grand Fleet.
The Barto Club sails aboard the Going Luffy-senpai, a ship carved to resemble Luffy with Chopper-style ornaments, though the crew are notoriously poor sailors who suffer badly from seasickness.
