Blondie

A heavyset, rounded man, Blondie has dark circles ringing his eyes and a patch of stubble on his chin. Riding atop his head is a little lion cub, seated just over a tricorn captain's hat whose Jolly Roger sports a maned lion design. He drapes a captain's coat across his shoulders cape-style above a striped shirt.

Loyalty matters greatly to Blondie, so much that he heeded Newgate's call and risked his life for Ace's sake. A playful manner stays with him through it all, grinning and carrying his cub even while fighting, and the suggestion that Whitebeard had handed his allies to the Marines left him horrified.

Over time Blondie made a frightening reputation for himself in the New World, leading his crew into subordination under Whitebeard. At some point a lion puppy grew attached to him, and from then on it has perched on his head wherever he goes. When Ace was slated for execution at Marineford, Blondie and his men joined the Whitebeard Pirates in the bid to free him. He first appeared shouting encouragement to Luffy, then pushed Marines out of the bay beside his fellow allies before making it inside. Squard's accusation that the Emperor had betrayed everyone to spare Ace sowed doubt in him, and he soon saw Crocodile conjure a sand tornado that pushed Luffy and Jinbe clear of Sakazuki, agreeing to help halt the admiral. As the conflict closed and the Red Hair Pirates appeared, Sengoku permitted the remaining pirates to depart.
