History
Hoping to upgrade his goggles before heading out to sea, Usopp was searching a Loguetown shop for a better pair when Carol entered and purchased that exact set for her father. To impress her, Usopp claimed to be a dreaded pirate commanding many loyal men. Carol then tracked down her father, the bounty hunter Daddy Masterson, and reported the boastful stranger to him.
Daddy put Usopp to a test, demanding that his slingshot strike a distant weathervane as proof of being Yasopp's offspring. Usopp made the shot, and a sullen Carol finally surrendered the goggles to him. She also turns up in a silent background cameo in the live-action adaptation, briefly trying the goggles on while Daddy Masterson is left out of that scene altogether.
