Appearance

Devon stands enormously tall, close to the height of her 344-centimeter captain, with pale skin and a full figure. Her dark purple hair, worn in girlish pigtails in her earlier years, sits above a wrinkled face defined by a sloping forehead, a long hooked nose, a square jaw, and a sinister smile.

Behind bars she wore the striped Impel Down outfit under a roomy magenta cape, with blue pearl beads strung at her throat and a purple sash knotted at the waist. By the timeskip she has remade herself into a storybook buccaneer, with a feathered bicorn carrying a lone rose and the crew's Jolly Roger, a long corset, a cravat over a striped dress shirt, and a sword at her side, her hair longer than before.

Personality

Devon maintains that she would never serve under another, granting Teach the sole exception and naming him special because he freed her. A sarcastic edge colors her remarks, and she far prefers fine garments to the prison rags she loathed. Her central fixation is collecting the severed heads of lovely women as keepsakes, and she openly lusted after Boa Hancock's; she also keeps a circle of doting female admirers and leans toward women romantically.

A sadistic streak runs deep in her, never more so than when she wore the face of the slain Absalom to feed Gecko Moria a cruel false hope. As is common across the world, she carries her own peculiar laugh, a drawn-out "Murunfuffuffu."

History

Once the most feared woman of piracy's Golden Age, Devon was finally seized by the World Government and shut inside Level 6 of Impel Down, effectively scrubbed from the record, which ranks her among the prison's deadliest captives. Her power flows from a Mythical Zoan, the Kyubi no Kitsune model of the Inu Inu no Mi, which turns her into a nine-tailed fox and lets her mimic anyone perfectly, clothes and all. She handles a spear and a whip and, later, a sword, and her endurance is great enough to withstand shockwaves thrown by both Whitebeard and Sengoku.

When the Blackbeard Pirates stormed Impel Down, she battled her fellow inmates to the death, won her release, and was taken into the crew. At Marineford she lived through Whitebeard's assault and joined in cutting down the Emperor, then survived Sengoku's strike and withdrew once Shanks turned up. Afterward the crew grabbed the Bonney pirates but scattered when Akainu arrived. Over the timeskip she climbed to Titanic Captain of the sixth ship, saw Kuzan brought into the fold, and helped turn Hachinosu into the crew's home base.

In the Wano period she impersonated Absalom to torment Moria, then sailed for Amazon Lily so that Blackbeard might seize Hancock's fruit, only to be turned to stone by the Mero Mero no Mi before Silvers Rayleigh restored her and the crew was forced off the island. Come the Final Saga, she and Van Augur landed on Egghead, met Jaygarcia Saturn and a starstruck Caribou, and ultimately chose to haul Caribou back toward Hachinosu.
