Daidalos

Daidalos's name and story draw on the Greek myth of Daedalus and Icarus, in which a son flew too close to the sun on waxen wings and fell to his death. The One Piece tale inverts the myth, since it is the figure named Daidalos, not the Icarus-like character, who dies from flying near the sun.

Daidalos is a giant squid and the cherished childhood companion of Ikaros Much, who grew up with him in the Fish-Man District. Daidalos died after drifting too close to the sun, an event that left a lasting scar on Ikaros.

Daidalos was a small squid with pale yellow coloring and fin shaped flaps above his head. Unlike most squids he had only six tentacles, each brown on the underside and lined with suction cups, along with a small mouth and black and yellow eyes.

Daidalos died after venturing too close to the sun sometime before Fisher Tiger founded the Sun Pirates, drying out and perishing from the heat. His death still leaves Ikaros Much anxious and enraged at the mere sight of fire.

Daidalos's death struck his close friend Ikaros Much so hard that even the sight of fire still leaves him anxious and enraged. The bond between the two had been exceptionally tight since their youth in the Fish-Man District.
