Chapter 630: Getting Violent

Beaten and shackled by Fukaboshi, Dosun has his speech weakened until an ally feeds him an Energy Steroid; the drug restores his strength, snaps the chains apart, and sets him wrecking a house while vowing revenge. Where the meeting hall of the fish-men stands, a drunken swordsman lashes out at everything nearby: Hyouzou, sozzled and indiscriminate, cuts down the very New Fish-Man Pirates dispatched to sober him. Over at the Marine Shopping Mall, Zeo torments residents by fading into his surroundings, then is squashed by accident when his own men stamp on a cockroach, only to stand up unruffled and declare himself a nobleman of the fish-man race.

Steering their gondola toward Gyoncorde Plaza, the three princes sense no hostility from the Straw Hats, despite the warning of Madam Shyarly's foresight. In Gyoverly Hills a rampaging sea bear crushes the ministers and palace soldiers; when pirates raise fire to scare it off, a traumatized Ikaros Much recoils in horror and impales the culprit on a dried squid spear, whose points drain every drop of moisture from whatever they pierce. Ikaros then notices Hody approaching atop a sea monster, King Neptune held captive, the captain shuddering as the pills he took to dull Zoro's wound trigger a brutal overdose that leaves him gasping.

Not one Straw Hat turns up anywhere in this chapter, flashbacks aside, which had not happened since the start of the timeskip. Every officer's trait is put on display: Dosun's exclamation shifts with his power level, Zeo camouflages himself like a chameleon while dubbing himself the district's fish-man noble, Hyouzou carries the nickname Drunk Assassin, and Ikaros wields dried squid spears born of the dread he developed after his squid companion Daidalos withered too near the sun. The kingdom's complete map is also unveiled here for the very first occasion. The cover continues the Loguetown decks-of-the-world serial, and the chapter sits within the Fish-Man Island Arc.
