History
As a sea snail, Escar can travel beneath the surface and ferry both people and cargo within its shell. While carrying goods toward a delivery, it and Rice Rice were thrown off course by a storm and lost their way. Luffy later hauled the snail up while fishing, knocking it out cold in the process.
