Then one evening she walked in for dinner to find the old woman had led government agents inside to spring a trap.
Robin slipped away, marking the first betrayal of her life, while Kanezenny stayed behind to harangue the agents for her reward, last seen seizing one by the collar and shrieking. In later years she spread her own account of the encounter, claiming the child had the eyes of a killer.
