History

For all its bulk as a giant crab, Kogani can dash across Arabasta's vast deserts at high speed, though its young age leaves it weaker than grown members of its species, so it leans on larger relatives for the tougher legs of a journey.

Once the Straw Hats had departed the Ravine of No Return, a Sandora Lizard ambushed them and was swiftly put down, the blow tossing Kogani loose so it could thank its rescuers. Later, after a collapse sealed the cave joining Nanohana and Alubarna, they ran into the crab once more, and it offered to introduce a friend able to carry them over the quicksand, reuniting them with Hasami. Deep within the Tomb of the Kings they found Kogani lounging in a small patch of desert, where it handed them a Burst Brew. Back at Waford, needing a route through the Dust Ruins, the crew turned to Kogani yet again; it agreed, guiding them across and staying in Waford a while to aid their travels.
