Appearance

Built to resemble a stitched-together teddy bear, this hulking Wild Zombie is sewn from cloth in shades of white, pale blue, and orange, with bandages binding his arms, legs, and lower half. An oversized blue-and-white cap rests atop his head while a surgical mask hides his mouth, and because he lacks eyelids his eyes stay permanently bloodshot. Down his back runs a zipper opening into a roomy hollow interior, large enough that Usopp, Nami, and Chopper once packed themselves inside all at once.

Personality

Devotion to Perona defines him, and he lashes out savagely at anyone who threatens her. His one persistent flaw is speech: forbidden to talk, he keeps forgetting and earns furious rebukes for it. Like the undead generally, he panics and flees at the sight of flame.

History

Hogback crafted him about a decade before the Straw Hats reached Thriller Bark, modeling the design on a teddy bear Perona had asked him to recreate. Ranking as commander-in-chief, he stood above every unranked Wild Zombie and the vice-commander Hippo Gentleman, with only Perona over him. As a zombie he felt no pain and struck with power beyond any real bear, splitting stone and cratering earth in a single swing, and he moved quickly besides. While the Straw Hats rampaged, Nami, Usopp, and Chopper sheltered within his cavity through the back zipper he could not reach, and his repeated efforts to alert Perona and Absalom were cut short each time, until the three tumbled out in terror when Oars awoke. He later pursued Usopp to shield Perona and battered him, only for the Sogeking persona to take over and purify him with a salt ball forced past his lips. His preserved body remained afterward, recovered by Perona, who carried it to Kuraigana Island and bore it away when she departed.
