Appearance

Semimaru is an aged, balding man whose long white hair flows alongside a lengthy beard, and he keeps his eyes shut at all times. More than four decades before the present, at the gathering where Higurashi laid out her plot to Orochi, he was dressed in a green kimono flecked with purple diamonds. Twenty-five years prior, after Orochi rose to shogun, he switched to a pale blue kimono speckled with white and topped it with a yellow haori.

Personality

Composed and unflappable, Semimaru rarely betrayed alarm even in a crisis, simply raising a barrier to guard Orochi when Oden lashed out. Loyal to his kin, he shared in the family's triumph, laughing along with them when Oden was forced into public humiliation on the streets of the Flower Capital.

History

Born in Wano roughly a century before the present, Semimaru was a biwa-playing lute priest skilled enough to perform even while crossing his fingers to trigger his power. He had eaten a Paramecia fruit, the Bari Bari no Mi, which let him raise barriers at will, sturdy enough to turn aside Oden's Ryuo-charged strikes. He stood beside Higurashi and Orochi when Higurashi recounted the Kurozumi downfall, and twenty-five years before the present he shielded Orochi from Oden's attack, keeping the would-be challenger from stripping him of his position. Half a decade afterward, he accompanied the pair to Kuri as Orochi spoke of building factories there. Some time after Kaidou slew Higurashi, Semimaru passed away from old age, and his fruit was later reborn and consumed by Bartolomeo.
