Appearance

Each young one is a near copy of its parent, shaped like an oversized eel and fitted with red eyes and blue fins. The single difference lies in their coloring, which glows a bright pink rather than the adult's brown.

Personality

For the most part these juveniles stay docile, though unfamiliar faces draw out the curiosity natural to young creatures. Once hunger takes hold, however, that calm gives way and they will snap their jaws at any humans nearby.

History

The brood made their den in a cave close to Dawn Island alongside their parent, staying put whenever the adult swam off in search of prey. When the Lord of the Coast was lured elsewhere, the Set Sail Pirates came upon the young ones, and a hungry juvenile snapped at Luffy, who answered with a punch. The child's cry brought the furious parent storming back, and its booming roar set the cavern caving in. Luffy seized a boulder before it could crush the little ones while Usopp shepherded both the children and the crew out into safety. Grasping at last that the pirates had never threatened his young, the Lord of the Coast halted his fury and let a gemstone fall from his eye as thanks.
