Appearance
Makko's scalp is shaved into a semicircular hairline, a style he has kept since his early Marine years. A heavy scar marks the right side of his forehead, gained only after he enlisted, and three lines sit beneath each eye, possibly his lashes. He dresses in the coat and shirt standard to Marine officers.

Driven by a firm sense of justice, Makko has no patience for shortcomings. His temper flared at his own men when they could not gain ground against the Straw Hat Pirates.
History
Reaching the rank of Ensign implies Makko has logged some combat experience and holds command over the subordinates beneath him. As the Straw Hats battled their way past the fleet he was leading out of Arabasta, Makko grumbled that his forces had made no headway against a single enemy vessel. When he berated his crew, they could only reply that the pirates were simply too powerful and that their cannons had no effect. He carries a bounty of at least one million berries and has yet to appear in the anime.
