Captured by slavers at some earlier point, Marin was put on display before Luffy, Hatchan, and Pappag during their hunt through the slave shops for Camie. A chain collar bound him and the cramped tank left him scarcely able to swim. The shopkeeper paraded him in front of the trio, but the shoddy mermaid getup convinced none of them.
